David A. Alagpulinsa, PhD

Dr. Alagpulinsa is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. The primary interest of Dr. Alagpulinsa’s laboratory is in hematopoiesis in the context of metabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on type 1 diabetes and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. His research applies approaches such as statistical genetics methods, single-cell technologies, and animal modeling.

Dr. Alagpulinsa earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (BPharm) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, and a doctoral degree in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, USA. He completed a postdoctoral training in the Department of Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, where he later became Instructor in Medicine and Investigation before joining the faculty in the Yale Center for Molecular and Systems Metabolism and Department of Comparative Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine in 2023. Dr. Alagpulinsa is a current recipient of the JDRF Diversifying Diabetes Research Talent in Academia Grant Award and was also the MGH Nominee for the American Diabetes Association Pathway to Stop Diabetes Initiator Award. He is a past recipient of the Keystone Symposia Bill & Melinda Gates Global Health Travel Award.
