of Emerging Infectious Disease

Wednesday, October 2, 2013
7:00 – 8:30 pm
Silverthorne Town Pavilion
(400 Blue River Parkway/Highway 9 at Fourth Street)

Dr. Woodland will discuss the threats that West Nile Virus, new influenza strains and other emerging viruses pose to those living in Colorado and beyond. His free talk for the community will also explore research efforts underway to learn more about and control the spread of these diseases.

Formerly the President of the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, New York (the nation’s first tuberculosis research facility), Dr. Woodland is now the Chief Scientific Officer of Keystone Symposia on Molecular and Cellular Biology, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Silverthorne, Colorado that convenes 50+ life science research conferences annually around the world. Many of these conferences are held in Summit County at Keystone Resort and Beaver Run Resort. His own scientific research at the Trudeau Institute, and before that at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and National Jewish Health, has been focused on T cell responses to lung infection.

Dr. Woodland will speak for approximately 45 minutes, followed by time for audience Q&A. Complimentary refreshments will be available. No RSVP is necessary.
